"Gardening is about enjoying the smell of things growing in the soil, getting dirty without feeling guilty, and generally taking the time to soak up a little peace and serenity. " ~Lindley Karstens

June Garden Update

It has been busy time for me, but wanted to at least share some pictures before June goes by.

The first picture actually was taken at the end of May.  I bought this Cattleya Orchid in a bag from one of the big box stores three years ago.  The first two years it grew so slow, until the third year, it started growing faster and bigger, and at the end of May, it rewarded me three gorgeous big flowers, almost 5 inch across.  I think I will go to buy more of these, they are just so beautiful, worth the waiting!

June flowers grow wild in my garden, thanks abundant rains that South Florida has had.

Compare the following picture to the one I took three months ago when this flower bed was just open.  Wow, the plants especially the Portulaca 'Fairytale Cinderella' really grows so quickly, my solar pagoda is almost buried.  A trim is in the order...

the same area three month ago
I don't think I have posted this birdbath picture yet although I have had it for a while.

Portulaca 'Fairytale Cinderella' and moss rose in my favorite froggie planter...

My Siam tulips (Curcuma alismatifolia) have just started blooming.  I have another light pink one, not yet bloom.

The light pink ground orchids are in the peak.

Other areas of the garden...

The first picture is the front garden, I re-did part of the front garden one month ago. I will post more about this project later when I have some time.

Bromeliads are changing colors...

This Kalanchoe thyrsiflora was a pup from my friend's garden, now it has its own pups.

I and my family will go back to China to visit my parents for three weeks in the middle of July.  If I don't get time to post again before I leave, I wish all my gardener friends a great summer.  Stay cool :)  Or to the friends who are in the winter season, stay warm!   Happy Gardening!
